Welcome to Goat Island – Sydney’s explosives storage site for almost 80 years. This self-guided tour explores the convict built gunpowder storage precinct, the stories of the islands most notorious convicts, the water police station, the grand Harbour Master’s residence as well as what the harbour was like before the British arrived.
This tour is designed for kids aged 5-12, uses simplified language and is narrated by a kid. There are 21 stops on the tour. Allow about 1.5 hours for the tour.
The island has paved walking tracks for most of the tour, however walking shoes are recommended. We also recommend you bring a hat, sunscreen and water. If you would like to stay for a picnic bring your own food and a blanket and enjoy some of Sydney’s most spectacular views.
